Despite being undefeated, the Buckeyes could put one starting position up for grabs.Although Ohio State isn’t experiencing deficiencies on special teams, Meyer won’t remain content with the team’s production. In fact, he won’t shy away from a possible position battle in the middle of the season. When talking about Blake Haubeil’s performance on Saturday, Meyer hinted that it’s possible that he could take the starting job from Sean Nuernberger.Urban Meyer says “it’s open for conversation” that Blake Haubeil could take the field goal kicking job from Sean Nuernberger after making three field goals last weekend.— Tom Orr (@TomOrr4) October 15, 2018Haubeil was perfect over the weekend, connecting on all three of his field goal attempts. As for Nuernberger, the senior kicker is perfect on extra points, yet struggling on field goals. Through seven games, he’s made just 60 percent of his attempts.Making this drastic of a change in October might be risky, but Haubeil certainly deserves this opportunity. Unlike Nuernberger, the sophomore connected on an attempt of 40 yards or greater. Both kickers will have an excellent chance to cement their spot as the starting kicker, as Ohio State meets Purdue.
